“Best Spot on the River!”
We’ve been Kenai Riverfront RV campers for 12 years and we think it is undoubtedly one of the best RV resort on the river. The red fishing is awesome and you’re within easy easy reach by boat of the great kings holes. This resort is also convenient to local services. Jim & Cindy & their kids have made this a wonderful family oriented resort from sing-alongs around the campfire to international volley ball games and special occasion pot-luck fish fries. Kenai Riverfront Resort is truly as enjoyable as you wish to make it!

“Perfect fishing spot!”
Awesome place. Best experience I’ve had in many years. Jim and Cindy are wonderful hosts. Perfect fishing spot. Everything you need here. We are coming back next summer. Excellent! Our family has stayed here several times since 2019 and this summer we have made it our home away from home by reserving a site for the whole summer because we just keep wanting to go back! We just finished a week of camping here with some friends for the whole 4th of July week and as always, with the help of Jim and Cindy we made memories to last a lifetime. If you are looking for a beautiful riverfront resort with comfortable, clean facilities and welcoming hosts, this place can’t be beat! The whole family from elementary age kids, teenagers, through grandma and grandpa are always entertained by the campfire evenings, sauna, outdoor games, hammock, and of course, fishing. We have learned so much about fishing and how to cook, smoke, and freeze our salmon from the host family here- their sons even filleted our salmon for us the first time we visited! This is the perfect place to experience the Alaskan Dream! The Eaton Family

Kenai River Front Resort – Absolutely Incredible! Wow- where do I even start? Jim and Cindy are AMAZING hosts! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. This is true old-school hospitality- warm, genuine, and on a whole different level. They know Alaska inside and out and are eager to share their knowledge. You can tell they care deeply about their property and the pristine riverfront they call home. If you want to experience combat fishing and all the chaos that comes with it, this is not the place for you. But if you want space, peace, and the satisfaction of catching fish in a clean, well-kept environment, this is the spot. Trust me—you can’t unsee the mess some people leave behind in the river. Here, it’s the exact opposite: beautiful, respectful, and serene. And watching Jim filet a fish? It’s like watching an artist at work. I mean, I can filet a fish in a serviceable way, but Jim’s skill is next level! I just wonder- how many fish does a person have to handle to make it look that easy? Now, let’s talk about location, location, location! Being right on the Kenai River at a private campground was worth every penny. Waking up in the camper and stepping out to world-class fishing- just incredible. The fishing was phenomenal, and Jim’s knowledge of the fishery was invaluable when it came to navigating Alaska’s fishing regulations (which are far more complex than back home in Maine!). His guidance made everything stress-free and fun. Jim and Cindy even shared some incredible halibut and salmon recipes that turned our catch from Homer and the Kenai River into unforgettable meals. While I was unable to pry out his highly confidential, tried-and-true smoked salmon secrets, we are planning to visit again and try our luck next time! We even built a Kenai Riverfront Resort-inspired smoker to try and draw out some classified information- haha! All in all, our stay at Jim and Cindy’s campground was the highlight of our trip. So glad we found it! We can’t imagine landing in a better spot for our first trip to Alaska. Hope to see you both again in a year or two. Thanks for the incredible experience, Jim and Cindy! You guys are the best!
August 2025, RV Campsite, North Dakota
The Kenai Riverfront Resort was without a doubt one of the best camping experiences I have ever had! The facilities are great and very clean! The owners Jim and Cindy will welcome you in like their own family and give you the best fishing experience that you can ask for! I learned so much from them about how to catch fish on the river and we did end up catching a lot! They were also very helpful packaging and freezing our fish to bring back home with professional quality. The resort also offers everything you could need and the larger part of town is fairly nearby so you don’t even need to leave the resort for any necessities if you just want to spend the day relaxing and fishing. The resort also offers all of the fishing equipment and tackle. Bonus: they also have amazing coffee and spaghetti ice cream that is a must try! If you are wanting a home-like, relaxing, and top river shore fishing destination, then we highly recommend this place! Kylie Paradis

An Unforgettable Stay at Kenai Riverfront Resort. Our stay at Kenai Riverfront Resort, hosted by the incredible Jim and Cindy, was nothing short of extraordinary. This isn’t just a place to rest your head—it’s a full Alaskan adventure wrapped in warm hospitality and a deep love for the region’s natural beauty. We arrived with high expectations, but Jim and Cindy exceeded them in every way, turning our visit into a cherished memory. We came as guests and left feeling like lifelong friends. Exceptional Hospitality Jim and Cindy’s warmth and genuine care set the tone for our entire stay. Their passion for Alaska shines through in every interaction, from sharing local insights to ensuring we felt right at home. They went above and beyond, always ready with a smile or a helping hand, making us feel like part of their extended family. Prime Fishing Location The resort’s location on the Kenai River is a fisherman’s dream. Just steps from our accommodations, we were casting lines into pristine waters. The property features flat rock platforms with easy stair access, creating perfect spots to fish while soaking in the stunning river views. During our mid-August visit, the late-run sockeye salmon were running strong, with fish passing by every few seconds—an awe-inspiring sight! Jim, a seasoned angler, shared expert tips tailored to the river’s conditions and provided top-notch equipment and tackle. His guidance ensured we regularly hooked into fish with ease. Impeccable Facilities The resort is a gem, blending comfort with the rugged charm of Alaska. The showers are modern and spotless, and the sauna was a delightful way to unwind after a day on the river. The grounds are meticulously maintained, offering a serene setting to relax. Whether we needed extra gear or a quick answer, Jim and Cindy were always there to assist with enthusiasm. Unique Touches That Wow The little extras made our stay truly special. Jim and Cindy’s homemade espresso was a morning highlight, rivaling any coffee shop. Their “spaghetti ice cream” dessert was a fun and delicious surprise—don’t miss it! Cindy’s handcrafted flies were not only beautiful but also incredibly effective, helping us reel in fish after fish. Evenings by the fire pit, with its breathtaking river views, were pure magic. Plus, Jim’s expertise in cleaning and preserving our catch ensured we brought home perfectly prepared fish to share with family and friends. Kenai Riverfront Resort is more than a destination—it’s an experience that captures the heart of Alaska. Jim and Cindy’s passion, the unbeatable location, and the thoughtful touches make this a must-visit for anyone seeking adventure and connection. We can’t wait to return! Shawn Benz
July 2025, RV Campsite, Florida Full-Timers
We were first impressed by the beautiful and well-maintained property, situated right on the Kenai River. The owners, Jim and Cindy, are very welcoming and take the time to show you all the amenities around the park when you first arrive. The sites only have electricity, but water is available, which didn’t bother us since we only booked for two nights. There is also a bathroom and a shower (including a sauna), both of which looked very clean. However, we didn’t use them because we use our facilities in our coach. The best part about staying at the Kenai Riverfront Resort is the fishing! Jim and Cindy have done a fantastic job of creating a safe and friendly environment to fish the Kenai River…no combat fishing here! Jim took the time to explain the proper technique and equipment to use to catch salmon from the bank of the resort. We brought our own rods, but they have rods you can rent, and Cindy ties the flies you can buy, which we did. We were a little early for the Sockeye Salmon run, but were still able to catch one. For a nominal fee, Jim will process, vacuum seal, and freeze your catch for shipping. We just had him fillet our fish because of the unique way he removes the skin, and we have our own vacuum sealer to prepare ours for the freezer. The price may seem high initially, but considering the cost of hiring a guide to take you on the river, having unlimited access to the Kenai during your stay is a great value. We thoroughly enjoyed our short time getting to know Jim and Cindy and will definitely be back! We camped at Kenai Riverfront Resort in a Motorhome. John Raczkowski

How amazing to stumble into a little piece of paradise! That’s how we felt staying at the Kenai Riverfront Resort. The setting is like no other RV park we stayed in during our 3 week loop in Alaska. So green, so serene, so much room, right on the Kenai River. The wonderful atmosphere of the whole place just hits you as soon as you turn into the resort. Hosts Jim & Cindy could not have been more wonderful, friendly, or helpful. We stayed for 2 nights, and came back again for a 3rd. Highly recommended! Mira Edelstein

Every once in a while, if you’re lucky, you will meet someone who truly enjoys their work and what they’ve built. Jim and Cindy are those people, they are the quintessential Host/Hostess. Their enthusiasm and willingness to go that extra mile to ensure your visit is the most enjoyable and memorable visit possible, is demonstrated in their every attention to detail. I am, admittedly, one of the worst fishermen you’ll ever meet, yet Jim and Cindy, both took it as a personal challenge to help/teach me how to fish… successfully I might add, as I was able to land some beautiful Sockeye (Red) salmon. The grounds are immaculate, you would never know fish had been caught and cleaned there, the parking areas are literally feet from the river, no combat fishing, Jim and Cindy will show you the spots to fish from. Best of all, no mosquitos, the gentle breeze coming off the river is enough to keep those little six-legged vampires away. My wife and I cannot say enough good things to say about the experience Jim and Cindy shared with us. Five star, double thumbs up. Jim is also a Master Fish Filleter as you’ll see from a couple of our photos. If you like Jim will fillet, vacuum pack and freeze your catch, so you can return home with product that looks like you know what you’re doing (this is where you can enter your own fish tales). But it won’t be necessary. Gary Teener

Beautiful spot right on the river. Jim and Cindy were so nice. Everything was clean and well taken care of. Wish we could have spent more than one night. Highly recommend and if we ever come back this way we’ll definitely stay here again. Thank you so much Jim and Cindy! Kevin Andren
September 2024, RV Campsite, SLOVAENI
We were the first guests from Slovenia. When we met the extremely friendly hosts, we fell in love with the place. We are not fishermen, but the nature and surroundings are so very pleasant. In the camp, you have a clean toilet and bathroom and full of extra things, which we didn’t use on the rainy day of our visit. We camped there definitely not enough time, but that was our travel plan. We definitely recommend a visit to the family owned, Kenai River campground, whether you’re fishing or just enjoying the ambiance. Although our destination is on the other side of the world, we will definitely come back. Tanja & Sebastian Mahkovic

We love Kenai Riverfront Resort!! We just got back from our trip to Alaska and Jim & Cindy made our trip truly unforgettable. We originally had planned to stay just one night but ended up staying 2 additional nights as we loved it so much. Jim & Cindy are such great hosts and will definitely be staying here again. The sauna was amazing, especially with the cool rainy days. The fishing from property is great (don’t have to get in waders which is nice!) and not having to worry about a ton of other people. Having access to process, seal, and freeze our fishing was a great amenity. The Tackle Shop was nice to have for when we ran out of tackle & gear. Our 13 yr old son made great friends with Mr. Jim (as did we!) but he was so gracious with him. We felt like they were our personal guide helping us with what adventures and places to see. Thanks so much Jim & Cindy, we will see you soon! Michael & Lauren Stoick

What an amazing place. I’m almost resistant to write a review as I selfishly don’t want more people to know about it. I grew up in Alaska and two years ago I wanted my family to experience all of the magic that we had as a kid. Out of all of the places we went, this is where we came back to again this year. From getting you set up with fishing rigs, to teaching you house to process and smoke salmon, Jim and Cindy are fantastic hosts, with hearts of gold. The first year we only had two nights in an RV, which was fantastic. This year I brought my son, and we stayed in the suite. Great experience all around. I definitely need to head back for the silver run. Terebessy Family

Great access to fishing on the Kenai River! Walk from your site to casting right on the riverbank. They rent poles, great fish cleaning facilities, relax by the camp fire, great shower and facilities. Beautiful riverfront suite available as well. Jan Aalt van den Hoorn

Top Alaska memory, heck top family memory. Was there with wife and I and four adult children. Loved the sauna and then the swim in the river Next day Jim taught us all how to fish, all 6 of us got our limit It was so much better the a guided trip we could fish from early morning to mid night when ever the sport moved you. Fish alittle, take a sauna, fish some more, lay in the hammock, sit by the camp fire by the river and fish alitttle more. Jim cleans and packages your fish better than a fish market. Kids played volley ball, did yoga on the dock. Only a few camp sites, intimate setting. Definitely worth the money. Packer Family of 6

This place was awesome. Jim and Cindy are amazing and gracious hosts. Even treated us to a fun night of singing by the campfire. All facilities, fishing areas, and campground were very clean and organized. Lots of fishing spots along the river. No need for waders unless you just want to go in. Freezer on site to store your catch. This place is a must for any Alakan fishing trip. Greg Schaeffer

My husband and I have been coming to the Kenai Riverfront Resort (I call it the Alaska Dream Resort) for 5 years now and were fortunate enough to be able to bring his parents for a very special 50th wedding anniversary trip. My husband’s mother didn’t like to fish before this trip, but she LOVED this place! Our visit to the Riverfront is a highlight to our year, as soon as we arrive, I feel myself relax. It is a special opportunity to fish or even be on the Kenai River without the combat fishing. This feeling of specialness is enhanced by the individuals who run the resort. We enjoy fishing and being able to do so in this lovely and well run natural environment is a gift. We are appreciative of the ability to easily clean and package our fish before returning home. Thanks to the special hooks made by sons of the owners and expert tips from Mr. Nelson himself, we have always caught our limits. Yet the best part is simply the peacefulness of being by the river and visiting with others who have discovered this special place of Alaska. Torg & Lora Volden

Kenai Riverfront Resort is an absolute must-visit in the Kenai Peninsula. We’re traveling as a family, three boys (10,8,4). We wanted to get off the grid and reconnect and relax. We rented an RV in Anchorage, spent some time in Palmer and Seward, but the real treat was staying at Kenai Riverfront Resort in Soldotna. We canceled our plans for a couple days just so we could extend our stay. The owners, Jim and Cindy, treated us like family, greeting us from the moment we pulled up, until we pulled away on our last morning. Everything we needed to fish was available to rent, and the expertise provided by the owners is priceless! There’s a huge yard and toys to keep the kids busy for hours. It’s truly a relaxing experience. We requested a reservation through their website and sent a check snail-mail to confirm, but don’t let that deter you. We can’t wait to go back next summer! Super Lage und eine ganz wunderbar herzliche Eigentümerfamilie. Der geräucherte Lachs hier ist ein Traum. Man kann natürlich auch selber angeln. Sehr saubere Sanitärräume. Update 2020: we planned to come back and contacted Jim early this year. From the beginning it felt like coming back to friends that we haven’t seen for a while. Jim and his family were super helpful helping us to plan our trip to the Kenai Peninsula with must-see and must-do tips. Unfortunately COVID-19 crossed out our plans and we must stay at home this year. Again, Jim was very responsive and flexible to find solutions to satisfy our needs, now that we can’t travel this year. Thanks a lot! We keep looking forward to come back as soon as possible. Hopefully not only to do some fishing, but also to do some catching 🙂 Stephan Selge

What luck!! We found a spot at the Kenai Riverfront Resort even without a prior reservation. Jim and his wonderful family lovingly run and maintain this idyllic resort. Their warm welcome and friendly, open manner meant we thoroughly enjoyed our time there from the very beginning. We spent our first evening with Jim, Cindy, and their sons TJ and CJ, along with other guests, around a campfire. Baking bread on sticks and singing songs made getting to know each other a breeze. The resort is located right on the fish-rich Kenai River. It’s not only the perfect place to unwind, but also a great spot to try your hand at fishing. With a bit of luck, you might even catch one of these salmon, which tastes absolutely delicious grilled or fried. Definitely worth a try! Playing volleyball in the evenings with Jim, his sons, and the other guests became a fun-filled ritual. Don’t miss out! Of course, you’ll receive tips for all kinds of activities as soon as you arrive. We spent the best days of our Alaska trip at the Kenai Riverfront Resort and are already looking forward to returning! Kirstin und Dirk Schwarz
From their son Ede: A very quiet, peaceful, pretty, relaxed, and friendly campsite. Fishing is the absolute highlight here, but Jim, his wife Cindy, and his two sons TJ and CJ, with whom I immediately got along famously, are absolutely wonderful people. They are incredibly kind and very welcoming. Catching something for dinner is no problem, and TJ or CJ (I can’t always tell them apart) will fillet it right away so all you have to do is fry it. I highly recommend this campsite. Ede Schwarz

“…Jim & Cindy, I’m finally taking some time out to send out a letter, thanking you and your family for the great time we had this last summer. My family, (including the folks) enjoyed every moment while staying at your place. The atmosphere was, relaxing and enjoyable throughout the whole time we were there. If Jim only knew how much I appreciated having a BBQ while camping, he would make it a center piece in his advertisement. The evenings were so relaxing just sitting around with the folks and visiting, while taking the kids out on the banks fishing and being able to spend some quality time with them. Your culture of safe camping, brought a sense of comfort to Mary and I, especially because of our two young children. We have traveled to many a “fish camp” during our vacations in Alaska, and have always had to put up with other campers that had no consideration of others, or concerns for safety. These qualities are recognized, and greatly appreciated. Not only was the visit to your place enjoyable, it was also relaxing! My folks both enjoyed themselves tremendously while they were there. Mom caught a 63 pound King, Dad pulled in a 45 pound King, and of course, we caught plenty of Reds from the shore.”
