The Upper Kenai River, as it flows from its headwaters of Kenai Lake in Cooper Landing, is a majestic stretch of glowing turquoise water as it winds through this mountainous and spectacular part of the Kenai Peninsula. With a few rapids here and there, increasing as you go down the Kenai River Canyon gorge where this gorgeous stretch of river descends to Skilak Lake, drift boats, catarafts, inflatables, and non-motorized boats of all sorts enjoy lazy days drifting the river for the trophy Rainbow Trout. This is what this wildest section of the Kenai River is most famous for–with the sights and sounds of Moose, Bear, and Eagles rounding out the natural choir of the Kenai cathedral.
