I’m not trying to earn any brownie points (although her brownies ARE delicious) when I say, unequivocally, without hesitation, that my sweet wife is the best fisherwoman I have EVER had the privilege of fishing with. In our earliest years together she would always out-fish me. It was her who taught me to fish salmon in the first place, after all she had grown up here while I grew up partly in Minnesota fishing pint-sized fish of the peewee class (no offense to the state of Minnesota, but it’s no comparison to Alaska). Today she’d still out fish me if she wasn’t out-working me everyday (as good MamaBear’s always do) with her faithful service to our family, our 4 children, our resort and life in general. Sometimes I wish she wasn’t so good at all that so we could just fish together more….and today was one of those days that I forced that to happen, ordering her to the river on a one-way must catch salmon ticket.  She made pretty quick work of it in the end, no surprise to myself and the twins, catching this beautiful hen Sockeye (eggs we needed too she knew) off her favorite rock, right next to mine. She was determined. She was strong. She is beautiful. Enough bragging on my fishing-partner, let the photos say the rest!  P.S. Days like this I enjoy just being her net man!
